What all this mean is that hemp-derived CBD products are here to stay. More and more people are looking for ways to treat conditions with products that don’t have adverse side effects as many medications have. They want natural products that work with the body, not just relieve a symptom while creating other harmful side effects.
Health benefits of CBD
To begin, you need to understand what CBD is and how it works. CBD, short for cannabidiol, is one of many compounds found in the cannabis plant. Unlike THC, also found in cannabis plants, CBD is nonpsychoactive, meaning it won’t get you high. Our products at Lost Remedy are made with hemp-derived CBD. We also use full-spectrum hemp oil (FSHO), which contains all the cannabinoids and terpenes.
The health benefits of FSHO go well beyond CBD. The full array of cannabinoids and other components contained in FSHO work together in what is called the entourage effect. In other words, all the components work in harmony to magnify their therapeutic properties. This complex mix of cannabinoids, nutrients, proteins and healthy fats work synergistically to promote a general state of balance.
To use topicals you apply CBD to specific areas of the body. It can help relieve pain and soreness, reduce inflammation and soothe inflammatory skin conditions such as psoriasis, dermatitis and eczema.
Which conditions benefit from CBD topicals?
A known anti-inflammatory, CBD can help relieve pain. It also can help alleviate neuropathic pain according to this study. But there are other conditions that benefit from applying topicals to a localized area such as:
- Acne
- Nerve pain
- Contact dermatitis
- Neck and back pain
- Bacterial infections
- Eczema
- Itchy rashes
- Muscle pain
- Psoriasis
- Inflammatory skin conditions
- Joint swelling
- Joint pain (arthritis)
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Wounds and burns
Hemp-derived CBD topicals work for these conditions because, as I’ve mentioned in past blogs, they bypass digestion. But they also penetrate deep into the skin, going beyond the first layer. The skin has its own endocannabinoid system (ECS) with CB-1 and CB-2 receptors that help maintain homeostasis, or balance. When an imbalance occurs, the above conditions can crop up. Applying a CBD topical is a safe way to supplement the ECS, helping to restore balance.
What to know about CBD topicals
Best of all, CBD topicals don’t seem to have any side effect. However, before you rush out to buy CBD, you need to understand what to look for in CBD products. The best products use FSHO. As I said, it contains all the cannabinoids and compounds found in the hemp plant. In addition, it contains many essential vitamins and minerals, fatty acids, proteins, chlorophyll, fiber, flavonoids and terpenes. FSHO contains dozens of cannabinoids. The most abundant is CBD, which makes up 90% of this full-spectrum oil. Other cannabinoids contained in hemp oil are CBD, CBG, CBN and trace levels of THC (under .2%).
Extracted FSHO also contains vitamins A, C and E, as well as B complex vitamins such as riboflavin, thiamine and niacin. In addition, it’s a source of vitamins not sufficiently present in many diets including beta-carotene. As stated above, this FSHO includes numerous minerals, fatty acids, proteins and a host of other components, all of which work together to enhance the healthful benefits of this unique oil.
To ensure that the CBD topical you use is safe, do your research. There is a lot to learn about CBD and you owe it to yourself to understand its benefits and how to use it.
