Frequently asked questions about CBD, part 1

If you have questions about CBD, we have answers. Here is round one of the questions people often ask us about at Lost Remedy? Still have questions? Let us know at www.lostremedy.com.

1.              What is CBD oil?

CBD (cannabidiol) is one of more than 60 compounds belonging to a class of molecules called cannabinoids. CBD oil is made from strains of cannabis sativa that contain low levels of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is a different cannabinoid found in a strain of cannabis sativa that contains high levels of THC. These strains are more commonly referred to as marijuana, and are identified as a Schedule 1 narcotic by federal law. CBD oil, high in cannabidiol, is also a cannabinoid. The human body creates its own cannabinoids, and contains millions of cannabinoid receptors, mostly in the brain, central nervous and immune systems and skin. Cannabinoids play a fundamental role in the body, because the endocannabinoid system regulates homeostasis, or the general state of balance. The introduction of cannabinoids helps to regulate sleep, appetite, mood, hormones, pain and many other body functions.

2.           What is full-spectrum hemp oil?

Full-spectrum hemp oil (FSHO) contains all the cannabinoids and compounds found in the hemp plant. In addition, it contains many essential vitamins and minerals, fatty acids, proteins, chlorophyll, fiber, flavonoids and terpenes. FSHO contains dozens of cannabinoids. The most abundant is CBD, which makes up 90% of this full-spectrum oil. Other cannabinoids contained in hemp oil are CBD, CBG, CBN and trace levels of THC (under .2%).

Extracted FSHO also contains vitamins A, C and E, as well as B complex vitamins such as riboflavin, thiamine and niacin. In addition, it’s a source of vitamins not sufficiently present in many diets including beta-carotene. As stated above, this FSHO includes numerous minerals, fatty acids, proteins and a host of other components, which further enhance the healthful benefits of this unique oil.

3.              Why is FSHO important, and why does Lost Remedy use it exclusively?

The health benefits of FSHO go well beyond CBD. The full array of cannabinoids and other constituents contained in FSHO work together in what is called the entourage effect. In other words, all the components work in harmony to magnify their therapeutic properties. This complex mix of cannabinoids, nutrients, proteins and healthy fats work synergistically to promote a general state of balance.

4.              How does CBD work in topicals?

Because cannabinoid receptors are located throughout the skin, CBD has the capability of interacting with these receptors to encourage homeostasis and healing. Topicals are applied directly on the trouble areas so the CBD can work on the immediate need. With CBD topicals, all of the hemp-derived nutrients are almost instantly absorbed through your skin, allowing a quicker and more focused effect.
