Uses for CBD burn cream

Uses for CBD burn cream? I know what you’re thinking: burns. Duh? Well there’s more to it, and I’m going to lay it out for you. Lost Remedy Burn Formula is our signature product. The company owner developed it for her own radiation treatment for breast cancer. It worked so well she completed the full seven weeks of radiation without burning.

CBD topicals for radiation burn

There are four stages of breast cancer and treatment is based on the kind of cancer and how far it has spread. Treatments may include surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormone therapy and immunotherapy, among others. The stage of the cancer and how much it has spread defines the treatment. Treatment is where CBD topicals come in.

CBD topicals are uniquely suited for radiation treatment because you apply them topically. Radiation occurs after surgery has removed cancerous cells or mass. These high energy rays blast remaining cancer cells but also healthy cells, and can even shrink tumors. However, everyone responds differently to radiation treatment. Plus, the amount of radiation you receive is a factor in the scope of side effects.

Because radiation therapy occurs frequently, your skin doesn’t have time to heal between treatments. So, you may experience some or all of these symptoms:

  • Redness
  • Itching
  • Flaking
  • Peeling
  • Soreness
  • Moistness
  • Blistering
  • Pigmentation changes
  • Fibrosis, or scarring of connective tissue
  • Skin ulcers

If these symptoms become too severe, doctors stop treatment to let the skin heal. Then it starts again.

CBD application

In general, doctors recommend aloe vera or other creams to help soothe the burning from radiation. As most cancer survivors know, however, they don’t always do the trick. At Lost Remedy, we created the Burn Formula to specifically prevent burning as a radiation treatment side effect.

For radiation treatment, use the topical to hydrate and help soothe the skin and reduce burning. Best results occur when you use the cream as soon as possible after each radiation treatment. Modern radiation is specific and targeted, so make sure you are aware of the area being treated. It’s okay to spread the cream beyond the targeted area to ensure adequate coverage. You can also do a second application if desired. Just make sure that the area to be radiated is completely clean and free of any residue prior to treatment.

We didn’t see this one coming. A mother wrote to us about using our Burn Formula on her daughter’s hands and feet for erythromelalgia. “My daughter is using the burn formula on her feet and joints for a rare condition called erythromelalgia. She has a severe case. The blood vessels malfunction and warm blood pools in her skin. I put it on her feet and she said after about 30 minutes she felt like they relaxed. I put it on her red elbows yesterday and the redness (the blood) decreased significantly in 20 minutes.”

Erythromelalgia is rare, and affects the feet primarily. But it can also affect joints and hands. It’s characterized by intense, burning pain of extremities, severe redness and increased skin temperature that may be episodic or almost continuous.

The underlying cause is not clear. To be transparent, there are few studies of CBD and this condition. But because this mother and daughter gained such good relief, it’s worth mentioning. As I’ve said in blogs before, CBD topicals have few, if any, side effects. So it might help.

Use CBD burn cream for burns

Now we get to the obvious part. Before we dive in, let’s look at the degrees of burning.

The range of burn are categorized as first, second and third degree, with third-degree burns being the most severe.

First-degree burns involve only the top layer of skin. Redness, swelling and pain occur.

Second-degree burns affect the top two layers of skin. Usually blistering occurs, with intense pain, and potentially, some skin loss.

Third-degree burns go deep, destroying tissue and requiring immediate attention from a medical professional.

Obviously use will be different for the varying degrees. Use common sense and get prompt medical attention with third-degree burns. For first- and second-degree burns, CBD can aid in faster healing. The reason it promotes healing, is that topical application activates the CB1 and CB2 receptors in the endocannabinoid system (ECS). The CB receptors’ job is to help maintain balance. CBD efficiently and effectively activates the ECS response that triggers repair. Although CBD on its own is a powerful anti-inflammatory, when combined with carrier and essential oils, its power multiplies, helping to target the area with relieving penetration.

First, cool the burn as best you can, using a stream of cool water. Then, use CBD burn cream to keep the area moist and protected. You can apply it several times a day, but keep the burn covered to help keep it clean.

For deep burns, medical attention is essential, but as the burns heal, CBD may help reduce scarring and keep the skin supple. It’s even been shown to accelerate the healing process.

Use CBD for sunburn

Who among us hasn’t had a case of sunburn? When you spend too much time in the sun, with or without sunscreen, your skinImage showing effects of sunburn on skin can turn red, feel hot and become sore. CBD, naturally present in the cannabis plant, helps soothe and heal sunburned skin. A known anti-inflammatory, it works much the same on sunburn as it does on other burns. As an analgesic, it helps relieve the stinging pain that often accompanies sunburn. Applied immediately and often to damaged skin, you may even be able to heal faster with less lasting skin damage.
