Last summer, I was with some friends and their dogs. At one point the puppy play got out of hand, causing a puncture wound in one dog’s ear. Because I was caring for a wound on my own leg, I had Lost Remedy First Aid Balm with me. We staunched the pup’s bleeding and smeared the ear with the balm. Next morning, the wound had already sealed.
This is just one way CBD can be used for pets. True the First Aid Balm was developed for people, but apparently it works on animals, too, without harmful side effects.
CBD as a supplement
In addition to topical treatments, hemp-derived CBD for pets is worth looking into. Much the same as the effects it has on humans, CBD for your pet can relieve inflammation and anxiety, reduce pain, ease spasms, prevent seizures and cancer, and so much more. Unlike prescription drugs for animals, CBD has few side effects.
Like humans pets also have an endocannabinoid system. So supplementing a pet’s diet with CBD oil is wise. Plus administering it is easy. A dropper full on their tongue, in their food, or on your finger for them to lick works well.

Typical suggested starting dose: 1 mg – 5 mg per 10 lbs. of bodyweight
Cats 1–5mg

2-10mg 3-15mg 4- 20mg 5-25mg 6- 30mg 7- 35mg 8- 40mg
Start with a lower dose. Changes usually occur within 30 minutes. If there’s no change after an hour, increase the dosage. It may take more than one treatment before changes appear.
