CBD oil and you

Without a doubt, you have probably heard about CBD oil and its healthful benefits. But maybe you need a bit more information. You may have questions such as: Where does it come from? What is it really? What does it do in my body? What are the benefits?

Let’s take these one at a time.

What is CBD oil?

CBD oil and topicals are good partners.
CBD oil and topicals are good partners.

CBD, short for cannabadiol, is a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. Along with all the news about CBD, you probably wonder if it can get you high. Well, although CBD is present in marijuana, the products and CBD oil Lost Remedy offers is derived from hemp. Although hemp and marijuana are from the same family, they are really different. Hemp is specifically a plant that is produced for CBD, a nonpsychoactive component that has health benefits but doesn’t get you high or alter your mind or body. This is the short version.

How does CBD oil work?

As I note often in this blog, all of us have endocannabinoid systems already wired into our bodies. We all have two CBD receptors, CB1 and CB2.

The CB1 receptors in the brain affect coordination and movement, pain, emotions, mood, thinking, appetite, memories, and other functions. CB2 receptors are more common in the immune system. They affect inflammation and pain.

When you apply CBD topicals or ingest CBD oil, instead of attaching to the receptors, it acts like a guide, telling the receptors to use more of its own CBD. Both the topicals and the oil work well on their own. Use them together, and the impact is greater than the sum of the parts. This reason alone is why Lost Remedy has begun to offer CBD oil in addition to our topicals.

What are the benefits of CBD oil?

Get ready, because there are many, from mental to physical health benefits.

In your brain, producing cannabinoids is essential for proper function. Stress and poor diet can cause damage to brain cells; CBD oil, rich in Omega-6 and -3 and linoleic acid, jump-start cannabinoid production to make necessary repairs. Plus, its calming effect on the brain can reduce anxiety and depression.

But the benefits don’t stop at the brain. In several studies, CBD has been shown to relieve pain. Why? CBD is a natural anti-inflammatory. Conditions such as neuropathy, nerve pain, arthritis and others respond well to CBD topicals and oil.

Recently, it’s become clear that CBD can be helpful for epileptic seizures. It can also help relieve symptoms associated with cancer, such as pain, nausea, and vomiting and it can protect the skin from radiation burns.

I could go on, but as I’ve outlined here, the benefits of CBD are legion. I haven’t even started on what it can do for your skin and hair let alone how environmentally friendly it is.

I think you might agree that it’s worth investigating adding CBD to your health and beauty regimen for personal and global reasons. You owe it to yourself to check it out.
